The Internship CV Guide for Pakistani Students (with Examples)
How to write a one-page internship CV that actually gets shortlisted in Pakistan - structure, keywords, and the mistakes almost every student makes.
Your CV is the first - and often only - thing a recruiter sees. In Pakistan, where a single internship posting can get 300+ applicants, the CV either earns you an interview in 15 seconds or it doesn't. Here's how to make it count.
Keep it to one page
You're a student. Nobody expects three pages. A tight one-pager is a stronger signal than a padded two-pager.
The structure recruiters actually scan
In order, top to bottom:
- Name, city, email, phone, LinkedIn URL. That's it - no photo, no CNIC, no father's name, no marital status.
- A two-line summary aligned to the role you're applying for
- Education (university, degree, expected graduation, CGPA if 3.0+)
- Experience or projects (with outcomes, not responsibilities)
- Skills (concrete tools, not "MS Office")
- Extracurriculars - only if they show leadership or output
Write bullets that show outcomes
Weak: "Responsible for managing social media."
Strong: "Ran Instagram content for a Lahore café; grew reach from 1.2k to 18k in 8 weeks; drove 30+ walk-in bookings."
Every bullet should answer: what did you do, how, and what happened as a result?
Tailor keywords to the job description
Most Pakistani startups now use ATS filters. If the JD asks for "React, Tailwind, and Git," those exact words should appear on your CV - but only where they honestly apply.
Mistakes that get you rejected instantly
- Typos and inconsistent capitalisation
- "References available on request" - waste of a line
- Listing every course you've ever taken
- Generic objective statements ("seeking a challenging role...")
- Gmail addresses like coolboy_69@gmail.com - make a firstname.lastname@gmail.com
Before you send it
- Export as PDF, never Word
- File name: Ali-Raza-CV-Marketing-Intern.pdf
- Have one friend and one senior read it
- Read it out loud - awkward sentences will jump out
